Midland Memorial Hospital is excited to announce the arrival of a new Digital Mobile X-Ray System. This new cutting edge piece of equipment is like a digital camera for X-Rays, and is a giant leap forward in the advancement of X-ray technology at Midland Memorial Hospital. The self contained digital mobile x-ray system is compact and quiet. It operates from a rechargeable battery pack so it can easily be transferred to different patient locations. The machine will be used in the ER for trauma cases and for exams on critical care patients who cannot be transported to radiology for x-rays.
One of the features that set this machine apart from other mobile x-ray units is that it produces high-resolution digital images that are processed within seconds. As soon as the images are taken, they can be viewed on a 15 inch monitor attached to the portable and then can be uploaded and stored electronically in the picture archive communication system (PACS). The radiologists and other physicians may view them from any location at any time with high speed internet access. This will result in a significantly faster turnaround time for interpretation and report delivery, when time matters the most.
“The new digital machine has made us much more efficient and improved our workflow. In fact, I’d estimate we reduced the time to complete initial trauma exams by two-thirds compared to working with the older analog machine,” said Brandon Myers, Radiology Diagnostic Supervisor.
“Our surgeons are always anxious to see images immediately during their cases. Now, the images are available within seconds. All of us are extremely happy with the increased efficiency,” says Jeff Kennedy, R.T. (R) (CT).
